Privacy Policy

Effective January 1, 2025

1. What we collect

Account data — your name, email address, and chosen role (requestor or provider) when you sign up. Avatar images you upload.

Profile data — bio, industry, seniority, base price, and background summary you choose to publish.

Transaction data — bounties, bids, jobs, messages, and reviews you create on the platform.

Authentication metadata — login timestamps, IP address, and browser fingerprint used to detect abuse and secure your account.

2. How we use your data

  • To run the marketplace: matching providers and requestors, processing escrow, sending notifications.
  • To prevent fraud, abuse, and platform circumvention (PII redaction in chat).
  • To send transactional emails (verification, password reset, job updates).
  • To improve the Service through aggregated, anonymized analytics.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not run third-party advertising on Icebreaker.

3. What others can see

By default, your profile is private. Providers appear in the directory only when active and eligible. Requestors can opt in to a public showcase at /u/[your id] which lists verified reviews; this is off by default.

Reviews you receive are publicly visible on the reviewed user's profile. Names attached to reviews are visible to platform participants.

4. Where data lives

Data is stored with our backend infrastructure provider (Supabase / AWS). We use industry standard encryption in transit and at rest. Access is restricted to the minimum personnel required to operate the Service.

5. Your rights

You can:

  • Access and update your profile from Settings.
  • Toggle your public showcase on or off at any time.
  • Pause your provider listing (Provider mode).
  • Request a copy of your data or deletion of your account by emailing privacy@icebreaker.app.

Some records (financial transactions, dispute logs) may be retained for legal or accounting obligations even after account deletion.

6. Cookies

We use cookies strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to remember preferences. We do not use marketing or tracking cookies.

7. Children

Icebreaker is not directed at people under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a minor has signed up, contact us and we will remove the account.

8. Changes to this policy

We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app banner before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
